It
can take time to appreciate a painting. The vocabulary of paint
is often complex, and beauty, painting's most recurrent theme,
can be a subtle thing. It is one of the nicer aspects to working
at a gallery that you get to spend this time with the paintings.
Not just enjoying them where they end up, displayed upon walls,
but at various points along their journey to get there. Not
surprising, then, that we develop attachments or fondness' for
certain works. The idea behind this new part of the web site
is simply to create a space for us to share with you our thoughts
about these paintings, the ones we choose to look at when we've
a few minutes to spare, the ones we are most pleased to sell
but at the same time perhaps most reluctant to let go. It is
important to note this will be subjective, as the enjoyment
of art always is. This is not intended as a space for us to
tell you which paintings are best, but which we like and why.
