At
the end of 2007 Beside the Wave Gallery exhibited a small collection
of paintings of London by Andrew Tozer, an artist perhaps better
known for his beautiful impressions of Cornwall. Such was the
response to this that Andrew has agreed to produce another small
collection of the capital where he lived and studied for six
years as an art student. It is fascinating to see London's iconic
landmarks and architecture rendered in the same sensitive and
sophisticated style as Andrew's hugely admired and widely collected
Cornish paintings. The celebrated Henley Regatta has been captured
in paint by artists since it began. Andrew's interpretation
of the Thames at this festive time evokes perfectly the mood
of the event. Crowds of people are dotted along the river bank,
competing rowers skimming by on the water.
Andrew follows in the footsteps of the artists that have inspired
him but retains a style that is distinctly his own. |
