I
have been searching for places or buildings that I can
draw repeatedly - formerly Norwich Cathedral and currently
both at Tree Cliff and the view over the roofs of Morrab
Road in Penzance. My work is executed spontaneously
and quickly, sometimes allowing forms to enter the work
subconsciously. De Kooning once likened the concept
of abstraction to Lewis Carol's Cheshire cat when the
smile remained even after the cat had vanished.
The way I work aims to embrace these essences such as
rhythm and suggestions of form, and combine them with
my more simple position as an observer of what is in
front of me.
