I
have worked as a painter now for about eight years having
spent many years as an illustrator. In the past I have
worked in watercolour and gouache but my preferred medium
is now oil paint. I work with knife and brush trying to
express the play of light, sometimes dramatic almost white
light on surfaces, cement, water and moorland, at times
distorting and squeezing the objects it surrounds. In
Penwith we are blessed with the most intense blue skies,
that dark cobalt into azure blue that works so well with
the earthy colours of the landscape or the turquoise shallow
water and clean white beaches.
