Beside The
Wave Gallery are delighted to announce details of their first
major one man show in 2006. Benjamin Warner is Cornwall's latest
up and coming artist, whose recent collection shown at the Affordable
Art Fair in London completely sold out. Having already shown with
Beside The Wave Gallery in a three man exhibition in 2005 we are
now delighted to be hosting Benjamin's first major one man exhibition.
Benjamin lives
and works in Cornwall and his favourite locations lie along the
south coast in the Falmouth and Helford River areas. He is primarily
concerned with light and changes of weather and is often most
inspired to paint during the winter months when we experience
the most dramatic changing conditions.

Benjamin's
background is in illustration but it is only since he decided
to concentrate on painting full time that he has reached his full
potential. His unquestionable skills as a talented draughtsman
give him an excellent foundation on which to experiment. The results
are stunning paintings of the Cornish coast filled with light
and drama. Benjamin is a master of surface texture and he constructs
his pictures with carefully laid layers of paint to produce beautifully
subtle surfaces of sea, sky and rocks.
To date, his
predominant subject matter has been that of open coastal views
but for this forthcoming collection he is working on a more figurative
subject matter and is more involved with complex compositions.
One series of pictures is focused on the views across the bay
at Falmouth. These scenes depict the fading light across the harbour
and the glow and twinkle of lights appearing at the windows of
the seafront houses. In these, as with all of his work, there
is an aged and mysterious quality.

sought after and collectable artist.

paintings from the exhibition will be available on our website
from 6pm on Friday 3rd February to coincide with the opening of
the private view. A full colour catalogue of selected paintings
