Preview: 6pm, Friday, 11th May.
Exhibition continues until 23rd May.
Andrew Tozer's
exhibition 'Changing Light', held at Beside The Wave's Falmouth
Gallery last May was what can only be described as a run away
success. Most of the paintings were snapped up by collectors from
the exhibition catalogue and via the gallery website within days.
With a collection that was obviously so strong, this you would
think is a hard act to follow. However, Andrew has delighted his
followers yet again with another outstanding series for his exhibition
at the gallery this May.
This new collection
is based solely in and around the Helford River area and ranges
from quiet creek side scenes of cornish cottages clinging to their
grassy banks to the mouth of the estuary where it enters the sea
and sailing boats entering the compositions, often catching a
stiff south westerly breeze, or overshadowed by dramatic skies.

This whole
series reminds us of days gone by, a simpler life without the
everyday hustle and bustle of traffic, over population and confusion.
The inclusion of figures taking a country stroll and day boats
tacking slowly up a secret inlet, resonate a calmness and peace.
The light
is often warm, golden hues entice and drench the facades of crumbling
cottages or the tops of stunted Cornish trees. So we are drawn
in, romanced a little and come away more than a little taken with
the results of Andrew's labours; he has subtly seduced us into
his world of timeless magical Cornwall along his favourite creek
in and around the Helford.

Touches of
Monet, Seurat, Sisley and Whistler enter one's head when looking
at Andrew's paintings. Andrew's love of the old masters and impressionism
coupled with the glorious location in which he lives has provided
a perfect combination. His obvious talents as an accomplished
artist then add the icing to the cake resulting in a stunning
series of over forty paintings.
All of the
paintings from the exhibition will be available on the gallery
website from 6pm on Friday 11th May to coincide with the opening
of the private view. A full colour catalogue of the paintings
from the show will also be available by request.
