This
small collection of approximately 20 paintings by Emma Dunbar
will provide a wonderful touch of exuberance to the start
of the summer. Inspired by the purely decorative qualities
in objects she works mainly on board in acrylic, occasionally
incorporating collage with gold and silver leaf. Her training
as a printmaker is evident both in use of blocks of flat colour
and in the unique way that she scratches through surfaces
to reveal pre-laid colours underneath.
For
this collection Emma has focussed particularly on still life
compositions rather than her familiar images of boats and
cottages. Layers of bright summer and spring flowers froth
over her unique collection of cups and vases. These gorgeously
detailed arrangements and juxtapositions of contrasting colour
are combined in part with some of her other favourite things:
references to her cats and chocolate feature throughout providing
a wonderful insight into her ability to find beauty and amusement
in those objects which are all around her.
As
a collection this is sure to uplift and energise the viewer,
bringing a sense of pure delight in the everyday objects of
life.
A
brochure showing a small selection will be available prior
to the opening. The complete collection will be on line from
