Biography
Emily began to make her own work in 2000 developing into smaller scale pieces that could be worn as jewellery. From her studio in Cornwall, Emily designs jewellery in response to the landscape surrounding her. Preserving a sea-worn, organic quality is a constant fascination. Emily is intrigued by the notion of connecting found natural materials with precious stones and metal.
"My background in the Arts has remained a strong influence. Living in West Cornwall has also shaped the work I make. The sculptural forms and textures of the coastline are a constant fascination; I love the fabric-like twists and folds of seaweed, the diversity in the contours of pebbles, the weathered character of flotsam I see washed up every day. The dichotomy of the precious and the organic - special stones encircled by sea worn fragments of silver - characterises much of my inspiration."
