Hazel has spent the last 5 years developing and honing her use of eco resin, a VOC free polymer plaster. With an MA in Children’s Illustration from Cambridge College of Art, Hazel initially discovered a love of texture through illustrative printmaking techniques.
Hazel Oliver collects her materials from her local surroundings in Falmouth. Lichen and windfall woods, pine cones come from Trebah, Glendurgan and the footpaths of Swanpool. All drift wood comes from Falmouth beaches, in particular the beach at Swanpool. Recycled mussel and oyster shell comes from the food waste of Hooked on the Rocks in Swanpool, Falmouth.
