Beside the Wave is thrilled to present our new Benjamin Warner exhibition. This collection is a testament to Warner’s continued drive for perfection. Every mark has been considered, from electric sunsets to murky cold scenes, Warner’s ability to depict light enables you to be immediately transported to the Cornish coast. The vivid use of colour in this collection has been applied with care so that no tone feels out of place, all whilst retaining a certain ethereal quality the works often possess.

The magic of Warner’s work is in his dedication to depicting the landscape in all it’s natural, unadulterated beauty. That is not to say we would therefore classify him as a hyperrealist artist; his work is far more emotive. He is rather a painter acutely aware of every detail in his chosen subject and consistently understands how to translate these details onto the canvas with the simplest of marks. Warner’s work is not only about his own connection to the landscape but also a visceral understanding of what the Cornish landscape means to others.

This collection has wonderful variety, from the usual locations of Falmouth and the Helford to the less common Fowey, Bodmin Moor and the Camel Estuary. Ben’s ability to depict depth within his paintings leads the eye into the painting and off into the distance, true escapism, which is the perfect quality a piece of art can behold in your home.
