Hugo Jones – Sunbeams

We’re delighted to be exhibiting Hugo Jones’ first solo show with the gallery. Over the last few years we have admired Hugo’s passion and commitment to his work, constantly challenging himself to paint the landscape that surrounds him in new and exciting ways.

“I think about about time when I’m painting; arrays of colour changing with the seasons, illuminated through breaks in the cloud. It has become the main narrative in my work, small windows into little worlds. I have a deep reverence for landscape, I feel grounded in it. I make several drawings before committing to a painting, often re-sketching and moving parts around. I try to capture the wind as it moves the clouds, grass and ocean; the marks guiding your eyes through the image.” – Hugo Jones
