France

France

France is a global centre for art, fashion, food and culture. As such, its role in the arts in particular is unshakeable-acting as home to many of the greats including Monet, Renoir and Cezanne. With a rich and diverse landscape from rolling countryside to bustling cities as well as a aegean coastline, France's natural geography is an inspiration for many artists as well as historically playing host to many important movements including Impressionism. Impressionism is a style in which the artist captures the image of an object as someone would see it if they just caught a glimpse of it. They paint the pictures with a lot of colour and most of their pictures are outdoor scene-their pictures are very bright and vibrant. The legacy of this can be seen throughout the decades and can be tracked all the way through to us here in Beside the Wave through our contemporary representation of Impressionism and Post-Impressionism artworks.
