Approaching his studio, I was immediately embraced by the verdant surroundings, a picturesque tapestry of deep green hues, with the occasional burst of brown gorse. As I ventured inside Miles’ studio, I was greeted by a captivating riot of artwork. There were sketches, drawings, and paintings of all sizes adorning the walls and surfaces, coexisting harmoniously with a drum kit, which Miles often uses for band practice.

The studio was graced by soft, diffused light that gently streamed through two unassuming windows, which offered picturesque views of the valley outside. We discussed his latest collection, with a particular focus on his drawings created amidst the gorse-laden landscape. The movement in his paintings and drawings convey a strong sense of belonging, it’s visible in every stroke, his deep connection to the history and natural splendour of Cornwall.
